To convert internal floating roof tanks for use with diesel, no modifications are required. If there is corrosion inside the tank, it can be cleaned and then treated to prevent further corrosion.
If it must be converted into a dome tank, the task involves simply removing the internal floating roof, sealing the ventilation holes in the tank walls, and installing a breather valve and flame arrester; the scope of work is not large.
