On the determination of lubricant viscosity

Our company has an acrylic compressor that uses BP GCS 180 as its lubricant. After one month, we took samples of the oil and found that its viscosity was 140. BP considered their lubricant to be fine; they took samples as well and determined that the viscosity was 178. The difference between the two is too great. Now there is a question: we have oil samples containing propylene, and what we want to know is whether it is necessary to remove the propylene from the oil before measuring its viscosity Are there any standards in this area?
