I have a question; everyone has their own opinion. I’ve posted the question online and would like everyone to share their views and back them up with the sources they’ve seen. There is a certain difference between the designed flow rate in the heating system and the flow rate of the circulation pump. Are the system pipes and valves designed based on the designed flow rate, or are they determined according to the flow capacity of the circulation pump selected? Please provide some evidence when making your arguments. Thank you!
The selection should be based on the design flow rate, as the circulation pump is also chosen according to this flow rate; moreover, piping and valves that meet the design flow rate will suffice to meet the user’s requirements.
The piping is arranged according to the designed flow rate; the circulation pump is selected based on that designed flow rate, and the valves allow for adjustment of the flow rate to account for any errors – this generally poses no problem

Of course, the pipes and valves need to be sized according to the designed flow rate. Due to efficiency issues, the flow rate of the circulation pump actually needs to be 10%-20% or even more higher than the designed value. Therefore, if the pipes and valves are sized based on the pump’s flow rate, they will end up being too large, which increases costs and results in financial losses.
