I have studied this membrane; it is a thin film made of expanded PTFE. It uses dead-end filtration, with the usual resistance occurring in the formed filter cake. The reaction must be complete before filtration; otherwise, it will continue to react within the membrane pores, forming particles that cause severe clogging of the membrane.
The administrator is right; the largest market for GORE membranes in China is brine purification. Another market is the filtration of sulfur from natural gas desulfurization liquids and wastewater treatment.
