Our factory previously used a set of adsorption towers filled with activated carbon adsorbents to remove impurities such as C4 and butane from hydrogen. However, regenerating these adsorbents required large amounts of steam for desorption, which was not only wasteful but also made it impossible to recover the organic substances like butane from the adsorption towers. Additionally, it placed considerable pressure on wastewater treatment processes. I wonder if there is a good desorption method that can recover organic compounds such as butane from the adsorption tower, while also reducing environmental pollution? Having a good desorption method is one solution; wouldn’t it be even better if there were another superior adsorbent or absorbent?

Adsorption using molecular sieves, or a method combining molecular sieves and activated carbon. Pressure adsorption and pressure reduction desorption are used to separate C4 and butane, which reduces the burden on wastewater treatment while also recovering organic raw materials. Therefore, it is necessary to initiate a research project, as there are no existing specific process conditions at present; these need to be determined through experimental methods.
Has the issue with hydrogen carrying liquid been resolved? ? ? One can try to lower the temperature of hydrogen, and then recover methane and ethane after liquefaction.
