Using Texaco’s water-coal slurry gasification technology, how long does it generally take from the initial design to the plant’s commissioning? And what is the time frame for the design of air separation units until they are operational? Is it possible for them to be out of sync, with a delay in the air separation?
If key long-cycle equipment is not taken into account, the Texaco gasification unit can remain operational for about two years; the situation is more or less the same for air separation units. It is better to carry out air separation operations earlier, so as to facilitate tasks such as system purging and pressure testing, as well as ensuring that all utility requirements are met!
Are there any long-term equipment that needs to be ordered in advance? What specific equipment is that?
The longest duration is likely required for the main air compressor in air separation units – around 24 months from the time of production. It takes about 29–30 months to bring an air separation unit online from design to operation, while gasification takes 32–34 months, assuming everything goes smoothly. If everything proceeds smoothly from pile driving to the completion of the machinery, it will take around 22–24 months.
