I want to upgrade the hardware dongle of ABB’s DCS, only upgrading the software version while keeping the functions unchanged. For example, can the firmware for freelance2000 6.1 be upgraded to that for CBF8.X? If anyone has knowledge in this area, please share it with me
Yes. But you need to send the Hard Dog account back to the manufacturer, who will then provide you with a software account. This type of upgrade is charged.

After upgrading the software, you can then install the license. This situation usually occurs when the software version is outdated and does not support new features, requiring an upgrade; or when the original system’s hardware dog supports a limited number of points, necessitating an increase in that number.
