Using crude alcohol is possible; the key lies in your process design. The gasification carbon is essentially a methanol distillation tower. Crude alcohol has a high water content, so it requires more steam. Now many manufacturers use crude alcohol or single-component crude alcohol, as it results in lower energy consumption. The key point is that sometimes the price of crude alcohol is lower than that of refined alcohol, so it makes sense to use it; just calculate the total cost.
The energy consumption using crude alcohol is low, but in the gas-phase process, corrosion issues need to be taken into account regarding the vaporization tower.
