The common methods for cleaning equipment such as tanks and towers before starting up are as follows: 1. Manually remove large debris from inside the tanks and the bottom of the towers, including waste steel plates, welding rods, and even anti-corrosion and insulation materials. 2. Rinse with clean water to wash away the impurities adhering to the surfaces. It is required to release pressure by opening the upper manhole or handhole (breather valve) to prevent the tank or tower from being collapsed! 3. Compressed air can also be used for purging! 4. It is required that cleanup work be documented for easy tracking!

It can then be rinsed with clean water to remove any residues remaining on the surface, or it can be blown clean using compressed air. As stated on the 2nd floor: It is necessary to release water by opening the upper manhole or handhole (breather valve) to prevent the tank or tower from being sucked flat! No matter which cleaning method is used, it’s necessary to thoroughly clean the bottom once more at the end! 4. Of course, there is one final key step: inerting by replacing the air with nitrogen or steam to make the final preparations before starting up operations.
