How should solenoid valves be maintained? Many of these devices in our company have stopped working recently.
The spool of the solenoid valve has a limited service life and needs to be replaced regularly. Routine maintenance involves checking the power supply, wiring, and whether the valve operates smoothly.
Use and Maintenance of Solenoid Valves: Use and maintenance: 1. It is recommended that the using unit assign a dedicated person to be responsible for their use and maintenance. 2. Regular inspections once or twice a year are the best way to ensure the reliable operation and long lifespan of solenoid valves. The following 4 conditions inside the solenoid valve are the reasons that prevent it from functioning properly and shorten its lifespan. ⑴1. Changes occur due to the use of a medium. ⑵. Rust forms inside the pipe. ⑶. The oil in the air compressor oxidizes, producing impurities such as carbon particles and tar, which then mix into the pipes. 2. There are dust particles, dirt, and other impurities in the pipes. 3. After installing the solenoid valve or after it has been out of use for an extended period before being put back into operation, it is necessary to feed the medium through it and test it several times to ensure normal operation before it can be used officially. 4. When a steam valve is put back into operation after being out of use for a long time, the condensed water must first be drained, and the valve should be tested several times to ensure normal operation before it can be used. 5. Before maintenance, the power supply must be disconnected and the pressure of the medium released. 6. The coil assembly should not be disassembled. 7. When disassembling the solenoid valve for cleaning, solvents such as kerosene or trichloroethylene can be used. However, be aware that rubber parts may swell, so they need to be replaced. 8. When disassembling for cleaning, all components must be reassembled in their original order. 9. Installation instructions: 1. Before installation, carefully read the product’s user manual to verify that it meets all requirements, familiarize yourself with the key installation points, and make the necessary preparations. 2. During installation, the solenoid coil should face upward and remain in a vertical position; the arrow or mark on the solenoid must be aligned with the flow direction of the pipeline. It must not be installed in areas where there is splashing or leakage of water. 3. Before taking over, thoroughly flush the pipeline at a pressure of 0.3 MPa to completely remove any remaining metal powder, sealing materials, rust, and other contaminants from within the pipeline ; The working medium of the solenoid valve should be clean, free of particulate impurities; it is recommended to install a filter before the valve, and a steam trap in the steam pipeline ; The dirt on the surface of the solenoid valve components as well as the filter must be cleaned regularly. 4. In the event of a failure in the solenoid valve, it is advisable to install a bypass device in order to isolate the solenoid valve promptly and ensure the normal operation of the system. As shown in Figure (1). When the solenoid valve is installed in a branch line, its diameter should be smaller than that of the valve in the main pipeline, as shown in Figure (2) for the branch device. Note: The valves on the branch lines must be closed. 5. Do not install the valve in low-lying areas of the pipeline, to prevent steam condensate and impurities from accumulating inside the valve and interfering with its operation. 6. Ordinary solenoid valves must not be used in flammable and explosive hazardous environments. 7. When the rigidity of the pipes is insufficient, it is recommended to secure the pipes before and after the valve with brackets to prevent vibration caused by the operation of the solenoid valve. 8. When using a three-way solenoid valve, the following points should be noted: (1) It must be installed with the opening facing upward; it must not be installed downward. The shut-off valve part of the pilot-operated solenoid valve is preferably placed in a horizontal position; (2) Pay attention to the symbols of each connection port to avoid incorrect connections, thereby preventing malfunction or accidents ; (3) The power supply used should meet the requirements specified on the product’s nameplate to prevent damage to the coil ; (4) The working air source should be properly purified.
