I’m working on training materials; does anyone know about the largest air separation units that are currently in operation, both in China and abroad? Please provide the scale of the facility, the supplier, the location of the facility, and the date of commissioning or construction date (expected date of commissioning). Thank you!
The best way is to call the manufacturer and ask for a performance report
Below is what I’ve compiled, which is a rough estimate; it represents the actual oxygen production capacity. It’s not known when Linde Mexico’s largest air separation unit came online; the largest oxygen production facility is that of Air Liquide, whose oxygen production capacity at sea level is 120,000 cubic meters per hour, with an actual output of 108,000 m3/h – this facility was built for SASOL in South Africa. Air Liquide France’s 108,000 m3/h O2 plant ; Linde Germany’s 110,000 m3/h O2 plant, 335,000 m3/h N2 plant (4 units in total) ; 2700 Mt/D of O2 by Praxair, a U.S.-based company specializing in industrial gases; 2400 t/d of O2 by BOC, a British oxygen production company ; 06 Integrated into Linde’s Air Products and Chemicals Inc. AP’s 3500 MT/d O2 facility ; MG’s 1700t/d O2 plant at Messer Group in Germany ; The 70,000 m3/h O2 unit produced by Russian Cryogenic Machinery Company (former USSR) in 1978, and others. The largest oxygen production plant in operation is the South African Coal-Oil-Gas Company, with an O2 output of >1 million m3/h ; The largest nitrogen production plant is in Cantarell, Mexico, with an output of 1.34 million m3/h of N2.
The largest one in China at present is that of Shenhua Ningmei, using 90,000 units of liquid air
The largest one in China is the 92,000-unit coal chemical plant operated by Shenhua in Inner Mongolia, using Air Liquide equipment; the largest one abroad is the 120,000-unit plant in Sasol, South Africa, also equipped with Air Liquide equipment. It seems that these plants haven’t been operating much due to issues on the part of the customers!
The largest one in China is the air separation unit with a capacity of 92,000 units, used in the coal chemical industry by Shenhua in Inner Mongolia, operated by Air Liquide. What is the current progress of its construction? Please let me know!
The largest air separation unit currently in stable operation in China is Hangyang’s 60,000-unit air separation plant.

Ningxia Coal’s total air separation capacity amounts to 300,000 units; there are three plants in total. The capacity for methanol production is 30,000 units, that for dimethyl ether is 90,000 units, and that for olefins is 180,000 units
Jiangsu Supor houses China’s largest air separation unit, which provides oxygen through coal gasification. Operated and managed by Praxair (China) Construction.
