Regarding the amount of cooling water, each compressor manufacturer has its own design, but the cold coils in different sections vary as well in practice. Adjustments can be made according to actual conditions; we generally do not perform calculations. If necessary, it is recommended to use a flow meter.

As the user, once the equipment is selected, the manufacturer will provide data on parameters such as power consumption and cooling water usage; generally, modifications are designed with reference to the data provided by the manufacturer. To calculate the consumption at each level, it is sufficient to have the dimensions of the water coolers at each level, as well as the flow rates of air in and out, the temperatures, and the inlet and outlet temperatures of the circulating water. I don’t quite understand what your instructor said – that circulating water should be used in winter while fresh water is needed in summer. Can’t the water cooler use fresh water in summer? When it comes to replenishing water in the circulating pool, it’s not necessarily true that more water is used in summer than in winter.

As for why fresh water is used in summer, it is because the weather is hot during that season; the lower temperature of fresh water enables a better cooling effect. Since the temperature of recycled water is affected by the weather, temperatures are higher in summer ; As for winter, the weather is naturally cold, and circulating water can achieve the desired effect. The ultimate purpose of doing this is to save energy and reduce consumption.
It’s not to lower the oil temperature; multi-stage compression requires a cooler to reduce the inlet temperature at each stage.
During maintenance of the circulating water system, we also use fresh water temporarily as a substitute; the return water is discharged directly. Moreover, using fresh water for a long time in the heat exchangers can lead to scaling, which affects their operational lifespan. This is certainly not favorable for energy savings and cost reduction. However, the temperature difference between winter and summer in Yunnan is not significant; if the recirculating water system operates properly, the temperature of the water in use is quite close to that of fresh water, which has little impact on the heat exchange efficiency. Therefore, there is no need to use fresh water for cooling during the summer.
