Torque wrenches – Also known as moment wrenches, torque clamps, or adjustable torque wrenches, they are a type of wrench. They are generally divided into two categories: manual torque wrenches and electric torque wrenches. Manual torque wrenches: At present, they are classified into those with mechanical sound alarms, digital displays, pointer types (dial types), and slip types (self-sliding types). The mechanical sound alarm type utilizes the principle of levers; when the torque reaches the set value, a mechanical impact sound is produced, after which the wrench becomes ineffective, acting like a useless tool. Applying more force will result in overloading. The digital display type and the pointer type (dial type) are similar in that they both visualize the applied torque. Currently, both digital and pointer types operate on the basis of mechanical sound alarm torque wrenches. The slip type (self-sliding type) features overload protection and an automatic force-release mechanism; when the torque reaches the set value, the force is automatically released (along with a mechanical impact sound), after which the wrench returns to its original position. Applying more force will cause it to slip again, preventing overloading. This is a new type of product that has only emerged in the past 1-2 years. Mechanical sound alarm type wrenches are currently the most common in the market, thanks to their lower cost. In comparison, the other three types are relatively more expensive. However, as industries place increasing demands on efficiency, the need for digital display type, pointer type (dial type), and slip type (self-sliding type) wrenches is growing. Electric torque wrenches: These are generally electric wrenches that allow for setting a specific torque value; they are also known as fixed-torque electric wrenches.
How should I put it? The type commonly used is one with a chuck; the semi-circular hole in the chuck works together with a cylindrical pin. When the torque exceeds the specified value, slipping occurs between the chuck and the pin, and the cylindrical pin is held in place by a spring. There is a screw behind the spring that allows the tension of the spring to be adjusted – the manual specifies how many turns are required to achieve a certain torque level.
