Let me share my experience: 1. For asphalt production, the properties of the crude oil are the most crucial. For example, when processing 380, normal pressure alone is sufficient to meet the requirements. Moreover, it is necessary to control the amount of material that comes out of the side line; otherwise, the softening point will be high, making it difficult to make adjustments. If processing crude oil from the hole stores (a type of asphalt-specific oil in our country), it is necessary to control the amount taken from the side streams, especially the volume of distillates from the vacuum side stream, in order to maintain a softening point around 42–45. In this way, it can meet the standards without going through the asphalt treatment process. 2. Second is blending; we are a small factory, and we rely heavily on blending, including blending catalyzed slurry, etc. As long as the elongation requirement is met, it’s generally easy to meet the other specifications.
