Chiller Operation Procedures 1. Strictly control the pressure in the storage tank within the specified range; the tank transfer operation must be carried out in strict accordance with procedures to prevent accidents. 2. The liquid ammonia storage area should be equipped with shading structures, spray water systems, drainage facilities, and leakage monitoring and alarm devices. 3. The filling level of liquid ammonia storage tanks and various tank trucks shall not exceed 85% of the tank’s volume; overfilling and overload are strictly prohibited. 4. Liquid ammonia separators must be installed at the inlet and outlet of the ice machine. Attention must be paid to the temperatures at these points as well as to any signs of frosting, in order to prevent liquid ammonia from entering the machine and causing liquid slugging accidents. Closely monitor the operation of the ice machine and its oil pressure differences, clean the filters promptly, adjust the liquid level in the oil separator in a timely manner, and ensure the quality of liquid ammonia. 5. The tank truck must have all necessary licenses and permits in good condition, and the driver and escort must possess the required qualifications. During the filling process, the filler and escort must be present to monitor, and it is strictly prohibited to leave their posts. The ammonia filling certificate must specify the rated filling volume, the actual filling volume, as well as the signatures of the filler and the escort; no ammonia filling shall take place without a document issued by the safety department. 6. When filling a tank truck with ammonia, the valve of the tanker must be opened first, followed by the valve of the storage tank; when stopping the filling process, the valve of the storage tank should be closed first, and then the valve of the tanker. The pipe may be removed only after ensuring that the residual pressure has been completely released; the driver may release the handbrake only after confirming that the vehicle is fully separated from the tank and upon receiving instructions from the ammonia filling operator.
