The flange class at the outlet of the delayed coking heater is generally designed to be 4.0 MPa, with male and female surfaces in contact and metal wound gaskets being used. However, over time these gaskets tend to age, leading to leakage and fire accidents; our company has experienced such incidents twice. Now we have switched to a pressure rating of 6.4 MPa with a rigid connection. We would appreciate your opinions – what grade do you use in your companies? How is it working?
I guess the pressure rating of the outlet flanges on the heating furnaces in the newly designed coking units should be 6.4 MPa. Gasketing materials lose almost all of their sealing effectiveness at temperatures above 500 degrees, resulting in easy leakage……
The octagonal gaskets we have chosen basically have no leaks; this is the case with newly designed devices in general; If the leakage is severe, considering the use of flange bolts with butterfly springs can effectively prevent leakage, though it will be more expensive.
The pressure rating of the flange at the outlet of our heating furnace should be 6.4 MPa; it’s better to have a higher pressure rating.
It should be in the 64KG category. . . It is best for the outlet pressure to match that of the radiation feed pump. . . Although there is a pressure drop in the radiant furnace tube, the design still aims to match the pressure at the outlet of the radiant feed pump; metal octagonal gaskets are used for sealing. . . :lol
