Our system features a medium-string low-flow configuration with a saturated hot water tower. The minimum required pH level for the hot water is 7.5, and it usually remains above 8. If the pH level drops, we raise it by using dissolved alkali. The total solids content in the hot water must be kept under 500 PPM; today, our total solids level is 186 PPM. A high level of total solids can severely affect the activity of the catalyst. When solid salts are carried in the gas phase to the catalyst layer, they cover the catalyst surface, thereby significantly reducing its efficiency. The poster’s question relates to two indicators: 1. pH value. To prevent acidic corrosion, the pH of the hot water used in the conversion process must be kept above 7.5. 2. Total solids. Total solids refer to various inorganic salts present in the hot water; these substances enter the conversion reactor along with semi-water gas and accumulate on the surface of the catalyst, reducing its efficiency. The total solid content in the hot water used for conversion should be kept below 500 mg/kg. The pH value can be adjusted by methods such as adding soda ash, as mentioned by wulashan. As the hot water evaporates continuously in the saturation tower, its total solid content increases over time; therefore, it is necessary to periodically replace the hot water. Both of these analyses need to be carried out regularly.
