When using blast furnace gas or coke oven gas, which contain tar, what aspects should be taken into consideration regarding the valves? What should be considered if a disc valve is chosen? Which model should I choose? Thank you all!
If a butterfly valve is to be selected, a hot-wall triple-eccentric metal-sealed butterfly valve should be chosen first. In addition, appropriate materials must be selected based on temperature, pressure, and corrosivity; the material of the valve body should be at least as good as that of the pipeline. Due to the presence of tar, steam purging is necessary to prevent tar from adhering to the valve disc and entering the bearings. The valve stem also needs to be extended (due to high temperatures, bearing purging, and a dual-bearing design). For the actuator, given the large valve diameter and high temperatures, a hydraulic actuator is recommended. The valve can be connected by welding or flanges; flange connection is preferred as welding may cause deformation of the valve under high temperatures due to welding thermal stresses, which could lead to internal leakage
