I would like to ask everyone: should a horizontal methanol tank be sealed with water or with nitrogen? Please explain the reason.
Methanol is highly soluble in water, so using a water seal is clearly unreasonable. By using a nitrogen seal to keep it away from air, moisture from the air cannot easily mix into methanol; moreover, the nitrogen seal also offers certain benefits in terms of safety.
Nitrogen sealing has certain safety and environmental benefits; it can reduce the risk of fires, as well as the losses and environmental pollution caused by methanol vaporization.
A nitrogen seal is necessary; simply adding a nitrogen pipe will suffice. In addition, a flame-arresting breathing valve should also be installed!
