I often see valves whose bodies are marked with the material code WCB; it’s a commonly used material, but I’m not sure what kind of material this code refers to
WCB is an American standard, equivalent to our **ordinary carbon steel.

WCB is the notation used in American ASTM material standards for carbon steel; it refers to cast carbon steel valve bodies, with the ASTM designation A216(G)WCB
ASTM A216 WCB, cast carbon steel. For valve carbon steel castings, WCB is generally used; its composition is equivalent to that of cast steel grades 25–35. The main components of WCB are: C≤0.3%, S≤0.045%, Mn≤1.0%, P≤0.04%, Si≤0.6%. There is a Chinese standard, GB/T12229-89, as well as an American standard, ASTM A216-WCB. These two standards are basically identical, with little difference in the specific material parameters. However, it should be noted that if the material is intended for foreign customers, the ASTM standard must be used.
