A super-large coal field with reserves of 3 billion tons discovered in Caoxian County, Heze, Shandong http://www.sina.com.cn March 8, 2009, 02:15 Shunwang-Jinan Times According to a report in the Jinan Times on March 7 (reporter: Susan; correspondent: Wang Jingjing), following the Juye coal field, the geological exploration teams in our province have discovered another super-large, high-quality coal field in Caoxian County, Heze. The coal here is coking coal, which is rare both domestically and internationally. Preliminary estimates indicate that the resource volume of this coal field exceeds 3 billion tons, with a potential economic value of over 1.5 trillion yuan. It is reported that the Caoxian coalfield was discovered through joint exploration by the Shandong Provincial Institute of Geological Sciences and Research and the Heze Municipal Land and Resources Bureau. The coalfield is primarily located in the Qinggangji area in the northern part of Caoxian County, extending northward to Dingtao and Mudan Districts. Preliminary exploration results show that the coal seams in the Caoxian coalfield are over 8 meters thick, and the coal quality is coking coal, which is rare both domestically and internationally. Preliminary estimates indicate that the coal reserves exceed 3 billion tons, with a potential economic value of over 1.5 trillion yuan. It is reported that explorers have initially identified loose layers revealing coal deposits at a depth of about 950 meters underground, and are currently carrying out further coal exploration work as well as studies on the engineering geological conditions for mining.
I’m stunned – aren’t those the factories under construction in Heze about to make a fortune, haha
It might be good news for us in the coal chemical industry as well! Hehe
It’s both good news and bad news! ~ The good thing is that our industry will be able to continue developing for a longer period of time; the bad thing is that the local ecological environment is likely to be damaged, and this region won’t be able to become prosperous
Good news: More new coal chemical projects will be developed in the area surrounding this coal field. The old and small projects will surely be phased out, to be replaced by large-scale projects
The peonies in Heze, Shandong, are on the verge of going extinct – what a pity!
Heze is located on an alluvial plain, and coal mining-induced land subsidence poses a serious problem. A precedent for this is the widespread subsidence of fertile lands in the Jining area, which resulted in the formation of many artificial lakes; the owners became wealthy and moved to buy property elsewhere, while ordinary people had to bear the consequences of coal mining. The coal in the Heze area is indeed of high quality; in some places, there is also a large amount of natural coke, which means there is coking coal as well. It’s hard not to feel happy about that. Around the early 1980s, there was a widely spread rumor in the area: Japanese geological exploration experts, after conducting surveys in Heze, said that the region would become an ocean in 50 years. It seems possible now; at least it could turn into a lake
Another coal tycoon is emerging from Shandong, haha
That’s good news! Someone else can make money now!
Another great piece of news for the economic development of Shandong! But it needs to be developed well! Stop economic development – it’s ruining the environment! That’s a crime against future generations!
Not very optimistic! The coal in Heze is buried at depths of 1,000 to 2,000 meters, making extraction very difficult. The mining techniques currently available can be used for mining at depths of 1,000 meters, and this represents the technical limit. Many of the complex issues associated with deeper levels have not yet been fully understood. To achieve large-scale production, it is estimated that around 15 years will be required; moreover, the impact of various uncertainties also needs to be taken into account. Heze is already a low-lying area with heavy rainfall, so it is possible that more time will be needed!
