**Notice from the General Office of the State Administration for Work Safety regarding the proper organization of the 2009 Certified Safety Engineer Professional Qualification Examination, Document No. An Jian Zong Tang Ren Shi [2009] 31. To the work safety supervision bureaus of all provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government, and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, as well as to the provincial-level coal mine safety inspection agencies: In accordance with the Notice issued by the General Office of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security titled “Notice on Issuing the Work Plan for Professional and Technical Personnel Qualification Examinations in 2009” (Ren She Tang Fa [2008] 75), the 2009 Certified Safety Engineer Professional Qualification Examination will be held on September 5th and 6th. In order to ensure the smooth progress of the registration and examination processes, the relevant matters are hereby notified as follows: 1. All relevant units shall actively cooperate with the local human resources and social security departments in carrying out the registration and examination-related tasks. They should assign personnel with high professional competence, strictly adhere to the requirements for examination registration, and conduct thorough qualification checks to guarantee the smooth operation of the registration process. II. In accordance with the provisions on separating examination administration from training under the \"Implementation Measures for the Professional Qualification Examination for Registered Safety Engineers\", anyone involved in tasks related to the examination shall not participate in any training related to that examination, nor shall they take the examination themselves. III. Pre-exam training adheres to the principles of independent organization and voluntary participation. No organization or individual shall organize examination preparation training in the name of safety production supervision and management departments at all levels or coal mine safety inspection agencies. IV. The content of the 2009 examination was conducted in accordance with the requirements of the \"Examination Syllabus for Certified Safety Engineers (2008 Edition)\". For the specific details of the examination syllabus, please visit the “Registered Safety Engineer” section on the **State Administration for Work Safety website (www.chinasafety.gov.cn)**. V. After the registration process for exams in various regions is completed, provincial work safety supervision and management departments should promptly inquire with the provincial personnel examination authorities regarding the registration status, fill out the summary table of registration details (Attachment 1), and fax it to the Personnel Department of the **General Administration (Fax: 010-64463146). It’s useful. It’s just a certification; moreover, exam fees can also be charged. The more people who take the exam, the more money there is, right?:lol

The program for certified safety engineers in our country only started in 2002, so it’s still in its early stages. Nowadays, many people who have obtained these certificates still need to find an organization to which they can be affiliated. Still, passing the exam is a good thing; it allows one to summarize and improve their knowledge of safety theories as well as the relevant laws and regulations.
After passing the exam, I felt mixed emotions; especially after Lord Li ordered that restrictions be lifted, the threshold for entry was reduced, and thus it lost its significance. Apart from the need to pay money for continuing education, it hasn’t been of any use over the past few years – it’s truly useless
Passing the exam is at least a sign that you possess recognized competence in this area; taking the exam allows you to systematically organize your knowledge of safety management
Studying to* reinforce knowledge is always useful; one shouldn’t be too utilitarian
So far, only Sichuan and Yunnan allow online registration; there has been no activity in other provinces and cities yet
Certification in safety does have some value; it seems to serve as a starting point for those entering the field of safety management. If you haven’t even obtained this certification, how can you work in safety management?
The reality is that many safety managers may not have the necessary certifications, while there are also those who do have such certifications but do not work as safety managers. Originally, Li Yizhong aimed to have 100,000 safety professionals by 2010; the plan was to first reach that number and then impose mandatory qualification certification on such professionals.
