Acetaldehyde is highly reactive, has a low boiling point, and evaporates easily. It is rare to find acetaldehyde with a purity of over 99% on the market; most acetaldehyde is sold in the form of 40% aqueous solutions. I would like to ask: how is this 40% aqueous acetaldehyde solution produced on an industrial scale? After I prepared acetaldehyde with a purity of over 98%, mixing it with distilled water at low temperatures resulted in a white turbid solution. I’m not sure what the problem is; various methods have been tried but none have solved it. Could it be that flocculation occurred when the oily acetaldehyde was mixed with water?
