We are planning to purchase a coal-fired water heater that can reach boiling temperature, for use in providing hot water for the company employees and for bathing in the shower rooms. Does such a coal-fired water heater, which operates at normal pressure and 100°C, need to be treated as a boiler? Are there any relevant approval procedures that need to be carried out? It is under consideration; however, there is a \"Regulation on the Safety Inspection of Small and Atmospheric Pressure Hot Water Boilers,\" which stipulates that \"this regulation does not apply to wall-mounted water heaters.\" ” It seems that other types of water heaters are subject to relevant regulations. Article 3: The small boilers referred to in these regulations are: (1) Small steam and hot water dual-use boilers (boilers with a rated evaporation capacity of no more than 0.5 tons per hour and a rated steam pressure of no more than 0.04 MPa) ; (II) Small hot water boilers (hot water boilers with a rated outlet pressure not exceeding 0.1 MPa, hot water boilers powered by tap water pressure) ; (III) Small steam boilers (steam boilers with a water volume of no more than 50 liters and a rated steam pressure of no more than 0.7 MPa) ; (IV) Small aluminum pressure boilers (boilers whose body is made of aluminum, with a rated outlet steam pressure not exceeding 0.04 MPa and a rated evaporation capacity not exceeding 0.2 tons per hour).
According to the definition of boilers in the Regulations on the Safety Supervision of Special Equipment, coal-fired water heaters that operate at atmospheric pressure and 100°C fall outside the scope of boilers as defined by these regulations; therefore, no approval procedures are required.
