Learning is endless; carefulness is of great importance. As the saying goes, one should keep learning throughout life. The principle is simple, but it’s not easy to put into practice. The reason is simple: perhaps one can handle many things well in daily work and life, but that does not mean one has limited knowledge or that there is no need to keep learning. There is another story here. After the Wenchuan earthquake, a major bank actively responded to the calls of the Party and the government by donating money and goods. It also set up a dedicated section for promoting disaster relief efforts, detailing the steps taken by the bank in carrying out this work and highlighting the high level of attention given to it by its leadership. Yet, right at the top of this column, there are these big words: United as one, fighting against disasters. Upon reading this, one can’t help but ask: if everyone is united, if it is necessary to show kindness, if it is essential to respond to the calls of the Party and **, then who would still dare to show kindness in the effort to combat disasters and provide relief? Who would still dare to donate money or goods for disaster relief? Although it may have been just a small oversight in the work, it completely changed the purpose and meaning of everything, resulting in an unforgivable mistake. When watching Yu Shiwai’s video lectures, he gave an example: There was a shipwreck in Russia once, and upon investigating the cause, it turned out that a small screw had rusted and come loose, which ultimately led to the sinking of the entire ship and the occurrence of this tragic incident that shouldn’t have happened. Imagine, if the staff had been a little more careful, even just a little more, before the ship set sail, and had been able to detect that rusty screw in time and replace it, wouldn’t that have prevented the tragedy from happening? It is evident that knowledge plays a crucial role in our daily work, but carefulness also has a profound impact. As we keep learning and improving ourselves, we must also pay attention to the details in our daily work. Starting with small things, by doing well in those small tasks, we can achieve greater things; life is built up bit by bit in this way.
