How many fires could not be extinguished in time due to a lack of firefighting resources?
I really haven’t seen any statistics on this, but judging from the regulatory requirements that mandate the installation of fire protection devices and extinguishing equipment, as well as the emphasis placed on emergency rescue, the proportion must be quite high!
Putting out an initial fire is the best time to extinguish it. There are too many cases where a lack of firefighting resources has led to accidents; didn’t the fires in a 27-story building in Shijiazhuang, the CCTV headquarters, and a dance hall in Shenzhen all occur because of insufficient firefighting resources that prevented the initial fires from being extinguished? There’s no need to list any others.
Many facilities are equipped with fire extinguishers, fire hydrants, firefighting water, and so on, but they are not inspected regularly. Some fire extinguishers even have their safety pins not removed, resulting in no pressure inside them, while in other cases the pressure of the firefighting water is not sufficient. Therefore, even after having the necessary fire-fighting materials in place, someone must regularly inspect them, keep records of them, and file them.
