Hello everyone. I am a graduate in *equipment-related fields; I graduated in 2006. I currently work on shift, and I already have an understanding of the manufacturing processes as well as the equipment used. Now I want to delve deeper into knowledge related to equipment in order to lay a solid foundation for my future career. However, I’m not sure which areas I should focus on, or what knowledge a person working with equipment should possess. I would appreciate any suggestions you might have. Thank you!
First, master the structure and manufacturing processes of various devices. Second, understand the methods for inspecting and maintaining these devices. Third, go to the maintenance workshop and carry out device inspections in person
I just want to say that what you learn in school is really too little; it’s only when you go to a factory that you realize how much you don’t know. Now I have only a basic understanding of the equipment, and I’ve come to understand its purpose by relating it to the manufacturing processes. The next step is to study carefully using the books and the actual equipment*, with a focus on its structure; whenever possible, try working on it yourself, as this will help deepen understanding, and also learn more by observing the maintenance staff.
The most basic thing: you need to have a good understanding of your device at the very least. Cycle of moving parts, items that need to be replaced during the next maintenance, and items that require inspection. What are the standards for a good repair? How should it be repaired, and what tools are needed? Ask the experienced workers frequently; don’t be afraid of being laughed at for not understanding even after going to school. Lower your head, be sincere in your attitude; take action more often, work things out step by step – it’s impossible to achieve success overnight
