Pumps used for additives are generally reciprocating metering pumps. The flow rate can be adjusted mainly through bypass reflux control, by changing the piston stroke, or by altering the number of piston reciprocations. Therefore, the return line and return valve of the additive pump are primarily used for regulating the flow rate.
