A total of 170 tons of Xinzhongbian catalyst B116 have been reduced, but it has not yet been put into use in production. It has cooled naturally to 30 degrees; it has been on hold for 20 months, with CO2 being used to maintain positive pressure inside the furnace. It is now necessary to transfer the catalyst from the original shift converter into the new one. I would like the experts to analyze and discuss whether it is feasible without passivation If passivation is to be carried out, will it be possible to use only an electric heating furnace and a reformer, without any other auxiliary equipment? ?
It has been left at room temperature for 20 months, so it should be able to undergo passivation; basically, after sieving it as it comes down, it is directly placed into the medium-temperature furnace. When removing the catalyst, it is still important to be careful and not open multiple manholes or discharge ports at the same time; this makes it easier to monitor the temperature throughout the catalyst removal process, allowing for timely action if necessary. Of course, this is just a precautionary measure. Our factory has also been using B116 medium-temperature catalysts. Every time the catalyst is replaced, the old catalyst is removed, screened, and then placed in the upper part; it suffices to leave it at room temperature for about a month. Of course, the amount of catalyst we use is only around 50 tons, which is much less than what the original poster mentioned. We’ve always done it this way, and it’s absolutely no problem for us. However, I’m not sure about the specific design of the furnace and the amount of material used by the original poster; it’s better to be cautious. It’s better to go through a bit of extra trouble than to risk an accident – after all, safety comes first.
It’s a bit troublesome; one should be cautious. In our factory, there was an abandoned medium-voltage furnace that, even after having its catalyst removed and being exposed to air for half a year, was still able to burn. It should be properly passivated before removal. The passivation conditions mentioned by the original poster are not very clear, so I dare not draw any conclusions.
