In our company’s fractional distillation unit, the tube bundle of the reboiler at the bottom of Tower 3 tends to develop perforations after just three months of use. We investigated the cause by examining the quality of the steam, improved the steam pressure, and addressed issues related to the soft water used in the boiler; these measures had some effect, but the problem persisted, with perforations still occurring within less than six months. With a steam pressure of 0.3 MPa, please discuss whether it is phase transition corrosion or fatigue failure
What are the operating conditions? What medium? What material is the tube bundle made of? Is it total damage or partial damage?
