There is an LNG power plant in Daya Bay, Huizhou, Guangdong, which has been in operation for many years. The specific technology is not clear to me; I think gas turbines are likely the preferred equipment for this type of power plant.
CNOOC operates several LNG power plants along the southeastern coast, in provinces such as Guangdong and Fujian.
CNOOC has natural gas power plants in Sanya and Yangpu, Hainan, and may build more in other areas of Hainan as well!

Natural gas power plants are mainly located in coastal areas. At present, LNG receiving stations are being built in Guangdong, Fujian, Shanghai, Qingdao and other places. This liquefied natural gas comes from abroad, from gas fields in Australia, Indonesia and other countries. Apart from supplying gas to the residents of coastal cities, the majority of this liquefied natural gas is used in power plants, including those in Daya Bay in Guangdong, Yangpu and Jinjiang in Fujian.
So what are the prospects for natural gas power generation?
Our plant’s thermal power station operates in conjunction with the refining facilities, using the excess dry gas from the refinery as fuel, and the results are quite good
