Why are many buildings in the south not built on piles? But in the north, this step is always necessary
It depends on the type of building and the geological conditions. For high-rise buildings and structures, pilings are also necessary in the southern part as well. For multi-story buildings, we determine the foundation design based on the geological conditions of the site; generally, this involves raft foundations or strip foundations under columns. As for whether it is due to geological reasons or climate factors in the north, it’s not very clear; it’s likely that not all buildings have piles installed. In my opinion, the soil in the south is mainly clayey and compact; for buildings with lower floors, it is generally sufficient to dig a shallow foundation. However, for high-rise buildings, pilings are definitely necessary.
