On March 8, the Inner Mongolia Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources stated that a large-scale high-quality coking coal deposit was recently discovered in the Alxa Left Banner of the Alxa League, and the coking coal resource reserves are expected to reach 300 million tons. It is understood that the project is being surveyed by the Geological Engineering Co., Ltd. directly under the Inner Mongolia Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources, and has now entered the stage of expanded preliminary survey and partial survey. This large-scale high-quality coking coal deposit is located in Heishan, Alxa Left Banner. A total of 5,122.63 meters of drilling work has been completed during the pre-exploration stage. Coal has been found in all five drill holes. The maximum single-layer mineable thickness is 0.7 to 4.72 meters. The five drill holes have estimated coal resource reserves of 70 million tons. Through two-dimensional seismic data display and drilling verification, the pre-exploration range will be expanded to more than 1,000 square kilometers. As the exploration work further deepens, the coking coal resource reserves are expected to reach 300 million tons. The coal-forming age of this deposit is the Carboniferous, and the coal-measure strata are covered by Permian and Triassic strata. The structural form, distribution range of coal-bearing strata, number of coal seams and burial depth of the coalfield exploration area have been preliminarily identified. The characteristics of coal type and quality and other beneficial minerals have been basically determined, laying the foundation for the next step of detailed investigation.
