In shell and tube heat exchangers, the arrangement principle of baffles is:: 1. The layout of the baffles must meet the requirements of the process design conditions. In particular, the form of the baffles, the spacing of the baffles, and the position of the baffles close to the inlet and outlet of the shell-side materials must meet the process design conditions as much as possible. 2. In the absence of special requirements for process design conditions, the baffles should generally be arranged at equal intervals, and the baffles at both ends of the tube bundle should be as close as possible to the shell side inlet and outlet nozzles. 3. When the shell side of the horizontal heat exchanger contains single-phase clean fluid, the baffle gaps should be arranged horizontally up and down. If the gas contains a small amount of liquid, a liquid port should be opened at the lowest part of the baffle with the gap facing upward. ; If the liquid contains a small amount of gas, a vent should be opened at the highest point of the baffle with the gap facing downward. 4. When the shell-side medium of horizontal heat exchangers, condensers and reboilers is a coexistence of gas and liquid phases or the liquid contains solid materials, the baffle gaps should be arranged vertically left and right, and the liquid port should be opened at the lowest point of the baffle.
