It is necessary to understand the structure of wireless Ethernet communication networks and their advantages over GPRS communication.
It is only known that GPRS has slow data transmission speeds and long sampling periods, making it unsuitable for real-time monitoring and process control. I would also appreciate it if an expert could explain this.
Wireless Ethernet networks are now almost everywhere; McDonald’s, pay phones, hotels, your neighbor’s home, and even financial institutions all have wireless networks. Unfortunately, in most cases, such wireless LAN access is highly insecure, and anyone can see the personal data you transmit over this network. Research on proprietary wireless Ethernet began in the mid-1990s. In 1990, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) established the 802.11 standard initiative. The scope of the IEEE standard includes the OSI-RM (Open Systems Interconnection Reference Model) physical layer standards (Layer 1) and media access control standards (Layer 2). The 802.11 protocol consists of 19 standards. The most commonly used standards are: · 802.11b, approved in 1999; · 802.11a, approved in 1999; · 802.11g, approved in 2003. 802.11 infrastructure networks use a cellular topology. This structure is composed of wireless access points. A wireless access point serves as a bridge that connects devices to wireless and wired networks. A wireless “unit” is a physical area that contains a separate wireless access point operating at a specific radio frequency. Each access point unit is called a Basic Service Set (BSS). In a multi-access point environment, BSSes are connected through a distributed system. A distributed system is essentially a local area network. Ideally, the access point should be connected to a switch or a bridge port. This will improve performance and ensure that the bandwidth of the LAN port is available only to wireless nodes.
GPRS transmits data slowly, has high costs, and uses the mobile communication network (the pricing varies by region; in some places, a monthly subscription is not available, so only a limited number of data transfers are permitted). Hardware receiving and transmitting devices are required at both ends.
