What can you do after changing careers?

Those who are related to this field need no explanation; in our area, the third type of occupation in the oil refining industry is involved in leasing. Especially those of our age, who only know atmospheric and vacuum distillation and have no other skills, work long hours and possess practical experience as well. But not many employers will consider us.
It can’t be said generally; it needs to be determined based on your specific circumstances.
Several team leaders and key employees in our company’s atmospheric and vacuum distillation department have changed jobs. Some went to work as managers or operators in smaller refineries; others went to the larger refineries in Huizhou, Hainan, and Qingdao. There were also those who went to Shenhua for coal gasification projects. After all, the income in petrochemical companies in the mainland is low, so it’s difficult to retain employees there. Not to mention college students – over half of them leave after about three years, and this is true even for those in technical positions. Out of all the college students who were trained with so much effort over these years, only one remains working at the facility; it’s disheartening to think about. In fact, people often aren’t aware of their own potential; only by being in such an environment can they realize it.
It depends on your personal abilities, connections, and educational background!
Those with a degree can consider working in design firms; practical experience is essential, as it cannot be learned from books! !
Valve repair, heating system repair, and operation maintenance
Although I have worked on various units such as those for chemical processing, atmospheric and vacuum distillation, and gas separation, and possess plenty of practical experience, who would use me at my age? Change lines!
This is really hard to answer. If you have good relationships at work, you can become a contractor. Everyone in the refinery trades stocks; you can focus on doing that full-time. In business, you need to be smart enough to realize that you have many regular customers. Also, you may be skilled technically but poor at management and at building relationships; you could still work in a social sector, continuing with your original field of work. As one gets older, it’s your mouth that’s used, not physical strength. That’s all I can think of for now; we can talk more when there’s time.
