Are there any other manufacturers that use a separate dechlorination system for the chlorine water in the chlorine scrubber of their diaphragm systems? What is the performance of such systems? How to control the operation process and what are the precautions? # , , &
We have used it before (we don’t have much chlorine water available). The system consists of a dechlorination tower, a chlorine/vapor condenser, a wet chlorine condenser, a dechlorination vacuum pump, chlorine water tanks, dilute chlorine water tanks, circulation pumps, and other equipment. However, its performance in actual operation was poor: the vacuum level could only reach 40 KPa, and the operation was very unstable. Later, hydrochloric acid was added to the chlorine water tank, which resulted in the release of a large amount of chlorine gas; the chlorine content after that was around a few hundredths of a gram. However, this caused severe cavitation in the pump, and the mechanical seal kept burning over and over again. Finally, we added a device similar to a neutralization reactor at the point where acid is added before the chlorine water tank; the chlorine gas produced as a result of the addition of acid goes directly into the main chlorine gas pipeline, while the chlorine water is then pumped to the dechlorination tower for circulation. This approach essentially solves the problem of cavitation in the pump. However, due to the excessive amount of acid added, which had a significant impact on the trench, the dechlorinated light chlorinated water was eventually mixed with the electrolyzed alkaline wastewater before being sent for salt formation in brine

Why is a separate dechlorination system needed for the chlorine water from the chlorine scrubber in the diaphragm system? Doesn’t your company have ion-exchange membrane caustic soda? If it does, then all of this chlorine water can be incorporated into the brine dechlorination system used for ion-exchange membrane caustic soda – this will work just fine. Since the amount of such chlorine water is relatively small, accounting for about 5%, integrating it into the brine dechlorination system for ion-exchange membrane caustic soda will not have any impact on the original system.
May I ask, is it okay if we add some salt water without adding acid?
No, adding hydrochloric acid disrupts the chemical equilibrium. Adding salt water isn’t meaningful.
