I have a question... What is the approximate total investment required for methanol synthesis and hydrogen production from methanol? Is methanol promising for the production of MTBE and MTO, or is its cracking into H2 a more viable option? ? ?
The very small amount of methanol required to produce hydrogen can be obtained through the catalytic cracking of methanol； Because the investment is low, for large-scale usage, separation is definitely carried out through PSA, as methanol synthesis uses syngas, and syngas contains H2. Hydrogen is synthesized and then cracked – that’s insane.
As mentioned above, PSA is still the reliable option; the vent gas contains approximately 80% hydrogen
