1.As the touchstone tries gold,so gold tries man. Just as a touchstone is used to test gold, so too does gold serve to test people. 2.Courage and resolution are the spirit and soul of virtue. Courage and determination are the essence of virtue. 3. Nothing is difficult for a man who will try. There is nothing impossible in the world as long as one is willing to try. 4. Fire is the test of gold; adversity is the tester of strong men. Intense fire tests true gold, and hardships temper strong warriors. 5.We must not lie down and cry; God help us.
