Our diesel hydrogenation operating procedures require that during startup and shutdown, when the reactor pressure is above 3.22 MPa, the bed temperature must be above 135°C. Why is such a rule in place? Is this for the protection of something, or is there some other consideration? I’m really confused~~~
It is to protect the reactor material from stress-induced damage. I recall it being 2.25CRMO material, but that was information from a very long time ago; nowadays, the material used for hydrogenation and refining reactors is generally 0CR18NI10TI, so there’s no need to worry about that
