Gasification coke is coke specifically used for producing coal gas. It is mainly used in solid-bed gas generators for solid slag discharge, as a gasification feedstock to produce gas with CO and H2 as its combustible components. The main reactions in the gasification process are: C+O2→CO2+408177 KJ; CO2+C→2CO-162142 KJ; C+H2O→CO+H2-118628 KJ; C+2H2O→CO2+2H2-755115 KJ. Since the formation of CO and H2 are endothermic reactions, the heat required is provided by the oxidation and combustion of coke; therefore, the gasified coke also serves as a heat source in gasification processes. Gasification coke is required to have low ash content, high melting point, and appropriate and uniform lump size. Its general requirements are as follows: fixed carbon greater than 80% ; Ash content less than 15% ; The ash melting point is greater than 1250℃ ; Volatile matter less than 3% ; Two grades: 15-35% and greater than 35 mm. Although metallurgical coke can be used as gasification coke, it is generally not employed for gas production due to limitations such as the availability and price of coking coal. Gas coal coke produced from highly volatile coking coal as raw material has a small size and low strength, making it unsuitable for use in blast furnaces; however, it has good gasification properties and can replace gasification coke in gas production.
