How to delete short messages quickly?

There are too many short messages – dozens of pages worth. The speed at which messages can be deleted is very slow now; previously, messages could be deleted one by one at most. Is there any way to delete them quickly?
No, I have already asked for help. The conclusion is to ignore it; the cleanup script clears it regularly in the background. At the moment, the only way is to delete page by page; there is no other option.
