When designing a large cast steel part, ultrasonic testing is taken into account; the standards define 5 quality grades. But which grade should I choose? If the value chosen is too high, production cannot meet the requirements; if it is too low, will it affect the performance of the parts?
You can choose the appropriate level based on the requirements of the usage conditions, so that the workpiece meets the necessary requirements. According to national standards, **Grade 2 standards are generally used for ultrasonic and magnetic particle testing; however, pressure vessels require a higher grade depending on the operational conditions
The question is how to analyze based on the actual situation – are there any analysis methods? Please give an example to illustrate. There are no reference projects available, as this has not been done before.
Under normal circumstances, cast steel parts that fail the ultrasonic inspection can be repaired. Therefore, the quality should be assessed first to determine whether it meets the requirements, before considering the production of cast steel parts.
