I started working at a private company in Zhejiang this year. After seeing that vote, I noticed that there are quite a few people working in private companies. I’ve always heard that state-owned enterprises offer great benefits and such. I’d like to ask everyone: aside from the salary, what other benefits do we get in private companies? Is there a year-end bonus?
It depends on the company; my first employer offered an annual bonus, while my current employer doesn’t, but my monthly salary has increased several times over, hehe!
It’s actually quite simple: the main reason why people prefer to work in private companies is that the working environment there allows them to utilize their skills freely, without having to be cautious at all times. State-owned enterprises are different; they emphasize capital, experience, and connections, which is extremely troublesome. If it were just for higher income, many people would not leave state-owned enterprises.
We are a state-owned enterprise that has been restructured; we now operate on three shifts (previously it was four shifts). There are no vacations, no overtime, no benefits, and no bonuses. The most important thing is the lack of management. But there is also a very effective form of management: your entire area becomes yours, and no matter what problems arise, you can’t avoid being held responsible for them. Normally nothing is done to you, but once there are problems, you can’t escape responsibility. If there’s a mistake, you could lose a month’s or even several months’ worth of salary.
