May I ask if there is a general range of theoretical plate numbers for each type of packing, including both structured and random packing? Thank you
In my opinion, there is no unified set of data; the supplier should provide detailed values for the equivalent number of theoretical plates, after all, much of this data is obtained through experiments and calculations!
Poor filler: The equal plate height of the ceramic rings is close to one meter. For general packing: the plate height of Baffle rings or Step rings is approximately 40 to 70 centimeters. Good packing: the equivalent plate height of corrugated packing is less than ten centimeters.
For structured packing, the theoretical number of theoretical plates is now fixed. For random packing, it needs to be calculated by the tower designer based on the product specifications; the exact quantity required is determined in this way.
The plate height (theoretical number of plates) of the structured packing in different companies should vary to some extent, but the difference is likely to be small.
