I am responsible for the maintenance schedule for the instruments of a certain device. Since the metal explosion-proof hose used there has been damaged, it is necessary to submit a new schedule. By checking the original instrument documentation, I learned that its model is G3/4\"(M)–G3/4\"(F). Here, 3/4\" indicates inches; but what do M and F denote – internal threads or external threads? Also: When I went to inspect the site, both ends of the metal explosion-proof hose used there had internal threads; how could one be M and the other F? Was the original design flawed? If anyone is aware of this, please advise.

Generally, on-site installation does not necessarily require the installation materials specified in the design. Sometimes it’s also possible that the materials are not suitable or have run out, so another batch has to be purchased. Generally, the outer-outer configuration is used more often.
The end connected to the wire conduit usually has external threads, and the end connected to the instrument also typically has external threads; if it is connected to the instrument through other fittings, internal threads can be used as well.

M stands for male, which is the English word for man, and it refers to external threads. F stands for female, which is the English word for woman, and it refers to internal threads. Internal threads surround other internal threads; this is a term used by foreigners based on the differences between male and female bodies, along with the concepts of internal and external structures: lol

Normally, there is one inside and one outside: the wire runs inside the conduit, while the primary meter is installed on the outside. Usually, it consists of a male connector and a female connector; the primary meter has a hole in it. In simpler terms, we usually refer to it as the female connector, and it needs to be connected to the male connector. haha
