Problems with the 316 flange hot water line? ? ? ?

Recently, while working on a project, I noticed that in the quotation documents provided by the design institute, the general technical specifications for pressure vessels specify that the flange sealing surfaces made of 316 or higher grade materials should have a smooth surface without any grooves. In actual use, there is not much difference between those with and without water lines. It entirely depends on the homeowner’s requirements. Answer from a half-beginner: lol. Last edited by uniqueflange on 2009-3-14 at 12:37.]
It is very dangerous to have waterline at the flange. Flanges with water lines can only be used with low-pressure flexible gaskets. Because if not handled properly, these water lines can instead become channels for medium leakage, hence high-pressure flanges do not have any water lines. If the waterline of the flange is deep, and the gaskets are not of high quality along with significant eccentricity in installation, the flange’s waterline can become a pathway for leakage.
