There are many LNG receiving stations that are set to be built in the country, and I’m wondering what the status is regarding the availability of gas supplies. I really need to know the exact details right now
The domestic LNG receiving stations under construction are mainly located south of Shanghai; there aren’t many under construction in areas north of Shanghai. There are plans to build such stations in Jiangsu, Shandong, Tianjin, and Liaoning as well. It might be impossible to obtain accurate information outside this field.
CNPC and Exxon have reached a preliminary agreement to import 2 million tons per year of LNG produced by the Gorgon project in Australia from Exxon over the next 20 to 25 years. This will be the second LNG agreement reached between CNPC and the Gauguin project. In November 2008, CNPC signed a 20-year contract with Shell to purchase 2 million tons per year of LNG produced by the Gorgon project from the latter. As early as April 2008, CNPC entered into a binding sales and purchase agreement lasting 25 years with Shell and Qatar Gas, under which Qatar Gas would supply CNPC with 3 million tons of LNG per year.
