What is everyone’s understanding of the concepts of point isolation and group isolation? Please share your opinions: handshake :handshake
Point-to-point isolation: Complete isolation between channels. Group isolation: Several points are grouped together and share a common ground, with complete isolation between groups
Generally, the reliability of point-to-point isolation is higher than that of group-to-group isolation. However, not every DCS (or PLC) system can achieve point-by-point isolation; some products can only achieve group-by-group isolation. In normal areas, group isolation is sufficient to meet the requirements.
I’m still a bit confused – does point-to-point isolation and group-to-group isolation apply only to channels?
Point-to-point isolation means that each circuit is powered by an independent isolated power supply； Group isolation involves dividing several channels into several groups, with each group being powered by an isolated power supply.
Just like the Siemens 322, it has 32 digital outputs, divided into 4 groups. But generally, these 4 groups are all connected to the same power supply; then does grouping the modules themselves still make sense?
