The key is to determine the purpose of using diol in your plant: is it to increase the production of methanol, or is it merely intended to eliminate copper washing and achieve purification? If the ammonia-to-alcohol ratio is high, one methanol synthesis tower is sufficient; if it is low, two methanol synthesis towers are needed. Efforts should be made to keep the carbon content in the methane feed as low as possible.
